People First: Reflections on Leadership, by Fr. Edward A. “Monk” Malloy, C.S.C., President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame

Over a span of three decades, Monk has taught a University seminar each semester with a select group of first-year Notre Dame students. In People First: Reflections on Leadership, he invites the reader to join him in the classroom for a dynamic course on leadership. Through a compelling series of questions and answers, Monk shares decades of wisdom, covering everything from the theoretical to the practical. These candid, uplifting reflections will inspire leaders from all walks of life who aim to be forces for good.

Fr. Malloy draws upon his travels to more than 90 countries, service on 32 boards, and interactions with 23 heads of state as he's engaged in leadership experiences in fields such as higher education, government, military, science, business, engineering, and theology.

Father Malloy completed his 18^th and final year as president of the University of Notre Dame on July 1, 2005.  He now serves as President Emeritus.  As the University’s 16^th president, Father Malloy was elected by the Board of Trustees in 1986, having served five years as vice president and associate provost.  Father Malloy is a full professor in the Department of Theology and has been a member of the faculty since 1974.  As President Emeritus, he continues to teach, conducting a seminar for first-year undergraduates each semester, and he makes his home in Sorin Hall, a student residence on campus.
